Asthma Awareness Day

Asthma Awareness Day in Coos Bay Oregon

Three Coos Bay Oregon schools will present information to fifth-graders about asthma.

On Tuesday, Oct. 26, the first presentation will be made at Millicoma Intermediate School.

Stations also will be set up at Bunker Hill Elementary and Sunset Middle schools on four topics: asthma awareness, environment, medicines and living with asthma.

Nurse Karen Brown RN, a school nurse, North Bend Medical Center physicians, Bay Area Hospital dietitian, Glaxo-Smith-Kline field representatives and private citizens will lead the sessions.

The goal is to improve students’ quality of life, decrease absenteeism due to asthma and understand the link between health and academic performance.
