NIH announces five Botanical Research Centers

Studies of the safety, effectiveness, and biological action of botanical products are major focuses for the five dietary supplement research centers selected to be jointly funded by the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) and the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), two components of the National Institutes of Health. The NIH’s National Cancer Institute is co-supporting two of the five centers.

New breast cancer committee to establish federal research agenda

A newly formed advisory committee will develop and coordinate a strategic federal research agenda on environmental and genetic factors related to breast cancer.
The 19-member Interagency Breast Cancer and Environmental Research Coordinating
Committee (IBCERCC) was established by the National Institute of Environmental
Health Sciences (NIEHS), in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute
(NCI), to review all breast cancer research efforts conducted or supported
by federal agencies.
